History:
The WZ-9 (Wuzhuang Zhisheng-9) is the armed version of the Z-9 utility helicopter. It has a four-blade main rotor and is powered by two turboshaft engines, which are produced by SAEC at Zhuzhou as Wozhou-8A (WZ-8A). The tank has a fuel capacity 1,140 litres. The WZ-9 features a gyrostabilised, roof-mounted optical sight, and a pair of weapon pylons.
These pylons can carry four HJ-8E wire-guided anti-tank missiles, or two pods with 57 mm or 90 mm unguided rockets, or two 12.7 mm gun pods. WZ-9 can also carry two TY-90 IR-guided short-range air-to-air missiles with a range of 6 km, or two C-701 TV-guided air-to-surface missiles with a range of 15 km. The WZ-9 is also armed with two 23 mm cannons.
